Michael Peter Olsen earned a Grammy nomination for his contribution to Drake’s Views album in 2016. His Yearning Flow LP earned a Best New Ambient nod from Bandcamp.

His new one is due Oct. 27, on the Toronto label Hand Drawn Dracula. It is entirely absorbing, not just because of his chosen instrument. Olsen’s mix of atmospheric and indie styles is a kind of showcase for what the electric cello can be, and the endless benefits of open ears.
