The Music Gallery Asks: What is Futurism?

The Music Gallery in Toronto is extending its What Is series with a four-event program on futurism next month. What Is: Futurism runs May 10 to 13.

From a media release: “This year’s theme … examines the complexities of making music for the future, reaching beyond optimism and considering a future that may not promise to be so bright.” Two of the four events are free.

On May 10, Indigenous Futurism will present a panel hosted by Ange Loft. Beverley McKiver, ShoShona Kish, Semiah Smith and Greyson Gritt are featured.

The Future of Water runs May 11, with performances by Bergsonist and Acote & Fezz Stenton. We’re promised “an exploration fo the impact of water on the environment, body and future.”

On May 12, The Future of People is an interview and book signing with author Abdul Qadim Haqq. R-ODERICK is also on the bill.

The series ends on May 13 with The Future Resonates, featuring Imbue Detroit and MUTEK.
