Puce Mary, Lee Gamble, Florian Hecker and JJJJJerome are among the artists scheduled to celebrate the 100th anniversary of legendary composer Iannis Xenakis’ birth. X100 runs Nov. 18-20 at Kraftwerk Berlin.
The event will feature “Xenakis’ works alongside new commissions, installation-based presentations, world premieres and special live performances from some of the most innovative artists working in experimental and performative electronic music today,” according to a press release.
The program is loaded with new works. Puce Mary, Bill Kouligas and guests will premiere Ride of Discord, inspired by Xenakis’ reliance on mathematical modelling and game theory. Pan Daijing has a new live performance planned with an opera singer ensemble “to explore the possibility of sounding architecture.” And Iancu Dumitrescu is premiering a new concert with his Hyperion Ensemble.
