POP Montreal Opens Sept. 28

Promising more than 200 concerts, the POP Montreal festival is back after a COVID hiatus. It runs Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. in multiple venues.

“The notion of ‘going back to normal’ isn’t really POP Montreal’s jam,” reads a press release from event organizers. “We will forever be moving forward, doing our best to care of our community and create spaces that allow for all kinds of voices to come together.”

They’re promising music, film, visual arts, crafts, panels and kids activities. Headliners include the Indigenous art-pop duo Ombiigizi, featuring Daniel Monkman (a.k.a. Zoon) and Adam Sturgeon, and new classical quartet Esmerine.
