The Music Gallery in Toronto is kicking off its You in Mind series Apr. 16 with a performance by The Robot Orchestra.
Danny Shaddick says The Robot Orchestra “was a response to the inability to get together with other musicians during the pandemic, and a curiosity about the kinetic sculptural qualities of robotic mechanisms.” He’s promising a collection of acoustic instruments – including glockenspiels, cowbells, steel tongues and turntables – performed by machines and robotics.
Shaddick is multimedia artist who also works as an architect in Toronto. He is donating all ticket-sale proceeds to Sisterna Toronto. That’s a free music education and social development program designed for kids in underserved communities.
Tickets are available via showclix.com. For those who can’t attend, it will be livestreamed at musicgallery.org.
