Standing Wave Receives Juno Nomination

The Canadian contemporary chamber music ensemble Standing Wave has been nominated for a prestigious Juno Award in the Classical Album of the Year, Small Ensemble category. Their November release 20C Remix earned the nod.

The LP features 20th century compositions “reimagined by seven of today’s leading Canadian composers.” The list includes works by Ann Southam, Olivier Messiaen, John Adams and Justin Timberlake.

In celebration, Standing Wave has launched a mobile app, featuring performances in “unique interactive settings.” They’ve also produced a remix EP of 20C Remix, available as a name-your-price download on Bandcamp.

Standing Wave features flutist Christie Reside, clarinetist A-K Coope, violinist Rebecca Whitling, cellist Peggy Lee, pianist Allen Stiles and percussionist Vern Griffiths.
