Astor Piazzolla Box Set Scheduled for May 6 Release

We’re getting a three-album box set of Astor Piazzolla recordings from Nonesuch Records on May 6. The American Clavé Recordings features LPs originally issued by the label during the 1980s – Tango: Zero HourLa Camorra and The Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night (Tango Apasionado).

The Argentine composer, bandleader and bandoneón player enjoyed international success during that decade, partly as a result of these three releases. A new generation of admirers discovered him via college radio and the burgeoning world music movement.

The new packaging features the original liner notes, along with new notes by Kip Hanrahan, founder of American Clavé. There’s also a detailed essay penned by Fernando González.
